Pura Vida en el IBAFF

by purelife on March 11th, 2013

¡Muchas gracias IBAFF!

Just back from Murcia, from the IBAFF International Festival, where Pura Vida was projected in the official section. It has been a pleasure to participate in a festival that had as central theme “journey and creation.” We traveled for four days and enjoyed several very interesting work. We meet Oskar Alegría and his film “Emak Bakia Baita” (The House of Emak Bakia), a beautiful work of searching through random, a journey in space and time. We also saw “Mapa” of Elijah Leon Siminiani, another trip to the interior and a different way of telling an existential crisis. We were fortunate to attend a meeting where filmmakers Abbas Kiarostami, Victor Erice and Jaime Rosales, talked about the key process of creating a film on its own cinematic philosophy of, freedom and influence, industry and design of a more personal film. As a climax and after the closing ceremony, Pura Vida won a Jury’s Honorable Mention. Staying true to the theme of travel and creation of the festival and aware of the relationship of this slogan with Pura Vida, we paraphrase the great Victor Erice, which at one point of his speech said that “Cinema, when traveling, wins.” Since we can not agree more, we will continue traveling and continue telling stories, because after all, that’s what we like. Thank IBAFF!
