Acabamos de estrenar Pura Vida en Madrid. Y hemos tenido la enorme suerte de poder hacerlo en un lugar excepcional, la Cineteca de Matadero. Nos hizo especial ilusión porque es un espacio con un compromiso absoluto con el cine documental, con todo lo que sea auténtico. Y nosotros nos identificamos radicalmente con eso. Además, la sala reúne las mejores condiciones que nunca hayamos encontrado. La película se ve y se oye como en ningún otro lado. Los que estéis por Madrid, id a verla. Los que estéis en cualquier otro lado, id aunque ya la hayáis visto, porque en esa sala se redescubre la estupenda banda sonora de Mikel Salas y la fotografía de Raúl de la Fuente. Ambas cosas brillan de manera especial en un espacio así. Estamos muy contentos. Y muy agradecidos a Mikel Olaciregui, director de Matadero, por recibirnos en su casa, que ha resultado enormemente acogedora. Tiene su gracia que en un lugar diseñado en su origen para matar (matadero) esté brillando ahora Pura Vida. De hecho, el escenario tiene mucha similitud con las localizaciones de la película; ese encanto post industrial, los charcos, las plantas que nacen entre las grietas del suelo…

Ah, por último y por encima de todo lo demás: gracias a todos los que os habéis acercado a verla. Sentimos mucho que haya gente que se quedara fuera en las primeras proyecciones, y más bajo la lluvia de estos días. Cuanto más recomendéis la película, más tiempo estará en salas y así podrá disfrutarla todo aquel que quiera. Un abrazo de todo el equipo de Pura Vida.

We have just premiered The Ridge in Madrid. And we’ve had the great fortune to do it in an exceptional place, the Cinematheque of Matadero. This made us particularly proud because it is a space with an absolute commitment to documentary cinema, with all that is authentic. And we radically identify with it. In addition, the room has the best conditions we’ve ever found. The film looks and sounds like nowhere. Those who are in Madrid, go to see it. Those of you who are elsewhere, go to see it although if you have seen it, because in that room you rediscover the great soundtrack by Mikel Salas and photography of Raul de la Fuente. Both shine especially in this space. We are very happy. And very grateful to Mikel Olaciregui, director of Matadero, for having us in his home, which has been extremely welcoming. It is funny that in a place originally designed to kill (slaughter) Pura Vida is shining now. In fact, the scenario has many similarities with the locations of the film, the post-industrial charm, the puddles, the plants which grow in the cracks of the floor…

Finally and above all else: thanks to all of you who have come to see it. We are very sorry that there are people that stay out in the first projections, furthermore in these rainy days.
